Rental Policies

  1. Check-in/Check-out times. Check–in begins at 3:00PM (CST) with most units ready by 5PM. Due to our high standards for cleanliness, there is a possibility that your vacation rental may not be ready until slightly later, especially during peak season. Your patience is appreciated. Homes located in South Walton and Panama City begin check in after 4:00 PM (CST). Check-out time is 10:00AM (CST) firm.
  2. Advance reservation/rental rates. Reservations are accepted up to one year in advance. Reservation dates will be confirmed, however we cannot guarantee rates or unit assignment. Rates are subject to change without notice, and there are circumstances that occur that make unit assignment guarantee impossible.
  3. Advance payment. A minimum payment of $200 per unit (maximum of $2,500) is required at the time of booking a reservation. VISA, MASTERCARD, or DISCOVER will be accepted for advance payment excluding: monthly rentals, certain locations, group bookings, houses (and penthouses) and major holidays. The advance payment will be applied toward the total rent due. The advance payment IS NOT a damage deposit. A deposit may also be required in lieu of advance payment.
  4. Damage deposit secured by cash or check. A damage deposit is required on many of our houses and penthouses. It can be paid by check, bank money order or cashier’s check. The damage deposit must either be sent overnight or by priority mail and must reach our office within three (3) to four (4) days of booking the reservation. This deposit automatically converts to a security/damage deposit at check-in. This deposit is not applied to your rent. However, it is fully refundable within two (2) to three (3) weeks of departure providing the following provisions are met: a. No damage is done to the unit or its contents. No smoking in a non-smoking unit. b. No charges are incurred due to collection of rent or services rendered during your stay. c. All debris and garbage is removed from the unit and placed in the proper receptacles. d. All dirty dishes are placed in the dishwasher and cleaned. e. All charges accrued during the stay are paid prior to departure. f. All keys are returned to Dale E. Peterson Vacations (There will be a minimum $80.00 non-refundable and non-negotiable fee for each key not returned to Dale E. Peterson Vacations on departure). g. Cancellation policies are correctly followed.
  5. Damage deposit secured by credit card. In some instances (for most of the condos and a few houses) in lieu of a cash deposit, your VISA, MASTERCARD, or DISCOVER account number will be magnetically entered into our computer records system. With proper notification to the guest, your account will be charged to remedy damage claims. NOTE: Cash deposits and/or advance payments will be placed in an interest bearing escrow account and all interest will accrue to Destin Resorts, Inc.
  6. Reservations cancelled/reservations changed. A minimum charge of $55.00 to a maximum charge of $1,000.00 will be required for ALL cancelled or changed reservations. Cancellations or changes that result in a shortened stay or new arrival date that are made more than fourteen (14), thirty (30), forty five (45) or one hundred twenty (120) days before your arrival date (depending upon the property) will forfeit a minimum of $50.00 plus tax, to a maximum of $100.00 plus tax. Cancellations or changes that result in a shortened stay or new arrival date made within fourteen (14), thirty (30), forty five (45) or one hundred twenty (120) days of your arrival date (depending upon the property) will forfeit the full advance payment or deposit.
  7. Hurricane Policy. Deposits and/or rent paid will be refunded if the accommodations or the primary residence of the guest is located within the Hurricane Warning Area set forth by the NOAA/National Hurricane Center.
  8. Cancellation or early departure due to any other inclement weather does not warrant any refund of rent or deposit.

  9. Monthly rental reservations. Reservations for three (3) months or longer will be given priority during the winter season. Cancellation of monthly rental reservations must be made one hundred twenty (120) days prior to arrival date. Changes that result in a shortened stay of a monthly rental reservation must be made one hundred twenty (120) days prior to arrival date. Credit cards will not be accepted for security/damage deposits or rental payments for monthly rentals. Personal checks, cash, traveler’s checks or money orders will be accepted.
  10. Pets. Pets are not permitted in ANY Dale E. Peterson Vacations’ rental units. No exceptions will be made.
  11. Age requirements. No rentals will be made to vacationing students or singles under the age of twenty-five (25) unless accompanied by a parent or guardian at a ratio of three (3) children to one (1) adult over the age of twenty-five (25). Any reservation made under false pretenses will be subject to forfeiture of advance payments of rent and deposit. Further, the party will either not be permitted to check in or will be asked to vacate the unit.
  12. Unit assignments. Dale E. Peterson Vacations rentals are privately owned properties and subject to reasonable wishes of the owner. We reserve the right to change unit assignments. When you confirm your reservation, unit requests will be taken, and a unit type will be assigned. However, no unit request is guaranteed.
  13. Maximum occupancy. The maximum number of guests per unit is based on the individual units ability to comfortably and safely accommodate our guests. If maximum occupancy is exceeded, you may be asked to vacate the property and forfeit any rental payments.
  14. Minimum stay requirements. Most of our properties require a minimum stay of three (3) nights. Longer stays may be required during peak seasons and holidays. If a reservation is accepted for less than three (3) nights, other charges will accrue. One week minimum stays apply at some properties during peak and holiday periods, with Saturday arrival and Saturday departure.
  15. Rental payment. Full rental payment is due before or at check-in. Payment may be made by traveler’s check, bank money order, cashier’s check, cash, or personal check (with proper identification). Credit cards will be accepted for short-term rentals only.
  16. Linen/maid service. Rates include a one-time linen/towel set-up and cleaning service at the time of departure. Daily maid service is not included in the rental rate but is available upon request for a fee. We suggest you bring beach towels as we do not permit towels or linens to be taken from the unit except for laundering.
  17. Late arrival/Sunday arrival. Guests arriving after 5:00PM, Sunday or major holidays should refer to information sent along with the confirmation for a check-in procedure.   18. Reservation Processing Fee. All reservations will be charged a one time non-refundable processing fee. This fee is a minimum $55.00 plus tax, and a maximum of $100.00 plus tax (depending upon the property).
  19. Violation of Policies and Rules. Violation of the policies and rules by a guest will result in eviction and the forfeiture of advance payments of rent and deposit. Dale E Peterson Vacations reserves the right to refuse future reservations to any guest who has violated our rental polices and rules in the past.
  20. Exceptions. Management must approve any exceptions to the above-mentioned policies in writing, in advance. Destin Resorts, Dale E Peterson Vacations, and Dale E Peterson Realty Inc. is an agent of the property owner.
